AIR MAIL SPEED

GISBORNE DISPATCHES REAL SAVING OF TIME • SERVICE IMPROVEMENTS That business men and private residents of this district are able to secure substantial acceleration of mail deliveries in other parts of New Zealand, and to" effect a great saving of time generally by making use of the air mail service as at present applying to the GisborneNapier link,, was demonstrated to a pressman to-day by the chief postmaster at Gisborne. Mr. A. M. Robertson.

Figures were produced showing the actual times of dispatch and delivery of mail entrusted to the air services for carriage between Gisborne and other towns, and these left no doubt of the real advantage offered to anyone '•: for whom speedy transmission is impprtant.., , The chief postmaster" pointed' out'that air mails for dispatch by aeroplane from Gisborne to Napier close at Gisborne at 6 a.m. and 2 p.m. daily, except Sundays. A letter written and posted overnight catches the early dispatch, and one written during the mormpg is dispatched by the afternoon plane. Deliveries at different towns throughout the North and South Island are made as under ■.:—■'

•Auckland; 7;10 a.m. and 9.40 aimnext day. Hamilton, 4.40 a.m. and 7 a.m. next flay.

Napier, 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. same day. Hastings, 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. same day. Dannevirke, 11.20 a.m. and 8 p.m. same day.

Palmerston North, 1 p.m. and 9.30 p.m. same day.

Masterton, 2 p.m. same day and a.m. next day.

Wangianni, 4 p.m. same day and 10.45 a.m. next day.

New Plymouth, 7.50 a.m. same day and 6.50 p.m. next day. Wellington, 4.15 p.m. same day and 7.50 a.m. next day.

Blenheim, 8.30 a.m. and 9.30 a.m. next day. Nelson., 8 a.m. and 1.30 p.m. next day. •• Christchurch, 7 a.m. and 11.5 a.m. next day.. '.-.■-'
