Poet Laureate's Son
]VIR. Lewis Mnsofiold is thrf son of the Poet. Laureate, and there will be. many who will read his first, novel, "Cross Double Cross" for that reason alone.
It is an amusing story of the attempt to overthrow a Socialist Government, and two of the chief characters are a manufacturer of armaments who lives on an aerodrome in tho middle of the Atlantic—his hobby is the study of the Aztecs —and a titled lady who owns a chain of newspapers. Mr. Masefleld's scenes, incidents, and plotting are fantastie toi.thc last degree, and the fightings and the comic, situation which might be termed a revolution reveal a vivid imagination. Mr. Mnsefield is out to amuse and entertain, and as he has a flair for dialogue a full-dress novel on normal lines will be eagerly awaited in his next novel.
