PROFESSIONAL CLUE SUPPOET MAINTAINED LAST NIGHT'S RESULTS The good support that the public has given the Poverty Bay Professional Athletic and Cycling Club's series ot floodlight sports meetings of late was well maintained at the weekly meeting last evening. ' Jeffcoate was thrown heavily from his machine on the east bend, but fortunately escaped injury. Shortly afterwards lie was dispatched from a rolling start in a special challenge match with 0. Bowman, but after completing several laps he again lost his seat and the match was declared off. A second double victory was gained bv V. Steggall, who annexed both the. four-lap and 10-lap senior cycle handi■aps. Ste-'gall. from a good handicap, went to the front fairly early in each race and maintained his lead to tho finish.

The result of the open tin hare race. was a surprise for many followers of the sport. After being well to the fore throughout the greater part of the final ->f tiie event. Mr. E. Lund's Golden Ranch ran wide on the last bend and Mr. T. O'Meara's Flash Ways, coming up on the inside from third position, made a great run to win the. race from Mr. L. Jex-Blake's Earl Court, with Golden Ranch close up third. Golden Ranch won his heat in the fast time of 27 l-ssec, while the winner's time in the final was 28 2-ssec. By means of Gisbornc Sound System's loudspeakers, Mr. E. Sharpies, president of the club, introduced to the spectators in the course of the evening Miss Vita Rosslyn, "The Girl in Red." Towards the'end of the programme Miss Rosslyn, after accompanying! to the ring one of the wrestlers, Arthur Read, who appeared in a tlressins gown also of i brilliant red colour, cycled round the track at a smart pace, completing the •ircnit amidst the cheers of the crowd.
