Traced by the number on his motorcycle alter "refusing to give his- name to 11 Napier traffic inspector at the conclusion of an exciting chase through darkness without lights, Hugh Johnson, ;i wool-scouring works employee, was charged with reckless driving, failing to give his name and address to a traffic inspector, and riding a motor-cycle without lights. "For half a mile," said Mr. .1. H. 11. .Scmplc, Napier traffic inspector, "I checked defendant at a speed of £3 miles tin hour. 1 don't know how he could drive so fast without a light." Fines were imposed totalling Cl 4. with costs £1 10s.
