WAIROA NEWS
(Herald Correspondent.) The interment of the late Mr. R. Tapper, sen., of Teiapaliki, took place at the Wairoa cemetery on Saturday afternoon, the Church of England' burial service being conducted at .St. Paul's Church and at the graveside by the Fen. Archdeacon Butterlield. There was a good attendance of town and country residents, and many beautiful wreaths were sent by persons unable to attend. The pall-bearers were Messrs. R. and J. Tapper, R. Tapper, jun., T. R. England, D. V. Thomas and A. H. Deighton.
In connection with the St. Joseph Convent jubilee celebrations this year it is hoped that one result will be the making of a presentation to the reverend sisters, who have completed 25 years of service in Wairoa at that date.
Dr. E. Hcyeock, schools medical officer, was engaged on Monday at the district school and the clinic—Mr. and Mrs. Harold Staniforth, late of Huntly, and 1 the latter a former Wairoa resident, have left on a business trip to England. They expect, fn be away about six months.—Mr. 11. Bcrnoy, of the staff of Die Wairoa branch of the Bank of New Zealand, who left, Wairoa some time ago for surgical treatment at a. Wairarapa centre, is reported to be making good progress after an operation, and is expected back in about a fortnight. —Mr. and Mrs. M. Bellerby, Mr. and Mrs. Fookes, Mr. G. Bee, Putorino. and Mr. and Mrs. Chris. Bee, To Moari, are visiting Wairoa for the Murly-Beachin wedding.—Mrs, 11. Prebble, who has been visiting Whangarei, has returned | to Wairoa.—Mr. and Mrs. R. Bauld j have returned to Wairoa from it holiday in the south.—Mr. H. A. Bygum, who lias been on a visit to the south, returned lo Wairoa on Saturday.—Mrs. D. >T. Fleming, Tolnra Flats. Putorino. is visiting Wairoa for the Murty-Beachin wedding. The executive of the Wairoa Chamber of Commerce is to meet at the secretary's office to-morrow night.
