REDS NOT WANTED

BRITISH LABOUR PARTY AFPII iIATION REJECT ED LONDON. Oct, 7. There was an unrourious beginning to the Labour Party conference at Edinburgh to-day, the chairwoman, Mrs. Adamson, announcing the curtailment of a discussion on a motion lo permit Communists to affiliate in order to allow the Spanish delegates to address the conference. Pandemonium broke out, but the closure was applied.

Mr. Rhys Davies, M.P., opposing the affiliation, said: "For every Communist gained we will lose scores of working-class Socialists. I hope that once for all we will tell the Russians, Germans and Italians that we are capable of deciding what political institutions we want,"

The affiliation was rejected by 1,728,000 to 532,000 votes.
