Gisbopne, October &-. 1930. Pamela Dear You should be here now and experience what really lovely spring weather is like. Gisborne is at its best, and when the railway is finished we'll be able to send friends an S.O.S. to come and enjoy the sun. Of course people have launched into slimmer clothes, and the town looks brighter and happier in consequence. My menu now is naturally nearly all summer dishes and, as if to make the budget easier for me, McKeague. our popular grocer, is offering a special summer treat of 2 packets of Kellog's Rice Bubbles for 1/6. A great saving, as the price was recently 2/-. Rice Bubbles are nice as the rice is toasted into crisp nourishing bubbles and, as well as beinq a good breakfast dish, they are particularly delicious served with cold fruits. Kellog's Whole Wheat Biscuits at 9d a packet are great value. Oak brand Raspberries, great luscious ones, are lovely for tarts and dessert, and a 1/- tin goes quite a long way. Whole peaches, with the fruitest of fruity syrup, have always been a favourite with you, and now v/e can buy a brand called Pearl for 1/- a tin. They are delicious and so useful. Of course drinks of a cooling nature are a great necessity now, and a most economical way to prepare them is to use Brown Barrett's flavoured orange. A 1/bottle makes four gallons of really refreshing beverage. And of course I buy all these nice things from either McKeague's in Gladstone Road, or McKeague's in Ormond Road. Yours lovingly
