Opposition to th> bill and its proposals expressed at thje' meeting was summarised in a resolution* (already published) which was carried by a substantial majority. The effects of the bill were so farreaching, said Mr. Jackson, that when advance copies were received it had 1 been defend advisable to call members tof ether to discuss what effect it would a*re on industry, for the benefit of mithbera not acquainted with the contents* of the bill the chairman read it to the meeting, later commenting:— "Under the bill, a plan may be put before the bureau by any persons in the indfislary, employees as well as employers, evfen if the employers or owners of the •industry do not approve of it. "There is no right of appeal further than to the Minister of Industries and Commerce, the Hon. D. G. Sullivan, ai# if he thinks the appeal is frivolous, he'may order the appellant to pay the costs of the appeal," Mr. Jackson contiiued. There seemed to bo jrio opening left for private enterprise.
