D. and H. 0. Wills (New Zealand-), Limited, tobacco manufacturers, Petone, and the National Tobacco Company, Limited, Port Aliuriri, Napier, were the respondents. ■lt. was agreed that 40 hours should constitute a week's work and there should be no work on Saturdays, and that overtime should be at the rate of time and a-half for the first four hours, and double time thereafter.
The parties agreed that pay day should be not later than Thursday each week.
An adjournment was decided upon, so that the union could call a meeting to consider the wages Offered by the employers. An '.agreement was reached on practically every clause, the only ones no settled other thair wages being those dealing with "smoko" and watchmen.
During the close-down period for Christmas and New Year, each worker is to bo paid, in addition to the statutory holidays, one week's pay.
