NOTED FARMER'S DEATH
.MR. WAt.TIiK nr, ACTOR (Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN, this day. The death took place this morning oi Mr. Walter Blackie. A prominent member of local bodies for many years, (lie late Mr. Blackie took a leading part in affairs in Otago. Born in Cavcrshain in 1853. lie was the son of Captain and Mrs. AVilliam blackie, and after leaving school became a carrier. produce dealer, stock agent, timekeeper for loading contractors and farmer, lfe met wi«!i considerable success at farming, being file winner lor isome years of the challenge shield lor the best managed farm of ICO to GlO acres in Otago and Southland. Deceased, who was married in 1875 (o "Miss 'Grace, Steele, leaves a family of six soils and four daughters.
