ROWING
G.R.C. EXECUTIVE REPAIRS TO EIGHT-OAR Tho weekly meeting of the Gisborne Rowing Club, held last evening, was attended by Messrs, A. F. Allen, club captain, L. Winstanley, J. Zachariah, R. Million. -S. Bruce, A. Payne, 1). Jones, and R. 11. Coleman, lion, secretary. The applications of • Messrs. K. O. O’ 11aHornu and P. llaismaii for active membership wore approved. Several alterations in crews for the First Trial Fours series were confirmed, and an extra crew was formed to give four additional members a chance to compete in the series. The desirability of improving the environment of the clubhouse was emphasised hv the captain, and with a view to co-operation with the. Poverty Bay club in beautifying the road-end lying between the two club premises, the secretary was instructed to enlist the assistance of all members available on Saturday afternoon. A report was received concerning the staging, the visiting committee stating that the timber needed attention, while the pitch of the staging itself called for some precautionary, measure to prevent accidents. It was decided to effect repairs during the week-end. Messrs. I). Jones and A. Paine were appointed a visiting committee for the ensuing week. Three mend ers. Messrs. R. Million, L. Winstanley and J. Zachariah, were appointed to assist ill- the repair work or the East Coast association’s eight-one boat, at the invitation of the associations executive.
Kome discussion took place upon the report of the delegates to the annua! meeting of the Hast Coast association regarding the one-day regatta project This matter is to be taken up further at a later date, the feeling of the com mittee being that a total as envisaged bv a majority of the nsso ciatiou delegates, would be unwieldy fm a one-dav fixture.
