Damages amounting to £l6O were awarded by Air. F. F. Reid, S.AL, to Airs. Caroline Thomas, who claimed £3CO from the North Canterbury Hospital Board. Airs. Thomas claimed that when a patient in the Christchurch Hospital, she was badly burned through a hot water bottle being placed on her thigh while she was unconscious. The board had paid £IOO into court.
