NEW THEATRE PLANNED

After negotiations, which have lasted for 18 months, arrangements have been completed for the eonstrretion ol a new picture theatre in Can'bridge. The erection of the budding will be iiuaneod by a -eornpany formed by Mr. I. I. Richards. a former mayor if the town, and the theatre will he lcasld to Amalgamated Theatres, Limited, the present lessees of the Town Hall. The building is to be of modern design, and will be erected, ot Mr. Richards’ property in Victoria street, where in January, 1835, his busings premises were destroyed by lire. Accommodation will be provided for 7CO people on one floor. The latest boating and ventilation systems will he employed, and the installatmt cf the newest sound system, togetlur with the incorporation in the design ol special acoustic treatment, tire (entires ol the plans. The work of const,nntion probably will begin litis month, and the theatre should he completed in March. 1936.
