OPPOSITION IN AUCKLAND
NEW INDUSTRIAL BILL MODIFICATION SOUGHT (Pol Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. Strong opposition to the provisions of the Industrial Efficiency Bill was voiced at a special general meeting of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce this morning. Nearly 100 members attended. A resolution, which was moved by Mr. p. (J. Basket!, was carried, though there were a number of dissentients. | The resolution expressed alarm at the far-reaching proposals contained in the bill, involving bureaucratic control of all industrial and commercial activities in the Dominion, the complete subjugation of all private enterprise without provision for compensation, and the unlimited (towers granted the Minister in taking away tho right of the subject to appeal to the. courts, and urged on tho Government, ibe desirability of modifying tho bill, or failing that postponing further action until its farreaching implications were understood by the public.
