FACTIONS IN LONDON
EAST END MEETINGS STRONG rOIJCE GUARDS DAY’S (3 ARRESTS (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. Oct. 5, 3 p.m.) LONDON, Oct. 4. Both Communists and Fascists held meetings in the East End of London to-niglit. The meetings were strongly guarded by police. The arrests made during the day tor obstruction and assault totalled (id. Scotland Yard states that largely owing to the day being one ot the finest of the year, many people assembled, including women and children. Disorder broke out in Royal Mint street when the Fascists wore assembled and the proposed procession to the East End was banned to prevent further breaches of the peace. A Communist Party statement says that mass action of the working people exposed the pro-Fascist attitude of the Home Office and tho police which sought to the last moment to enable the march by the Fascists, and this was responsible for tho baton charges of the police and the arrests.
