It was announced on Saturday by the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage, . that although Professor J. Shelley, who .will not take up his duties as director of broadcasting until December, would be charged with the full direction of the Government's policy in regard to broadcasting, the services of Mr. E. C. Hands, formerly the general manager for the Broadcasting Board and still, to- all intents and purposes, the administrative . head- of the national broadcasting service, would be retained, and he wouM act in the capacity of business" manager of the broadcasting service. ' •
