150 MEN DISMISSED
GRAFT ALLEGATIONS
QUEBEC, Sept. 4
All members of the Montreal division of the provincial police have been dismissed, the Premier. Mr. Duplessis, announced following to-day's Cabinet meeting. Their dismissal becomes effective immediately. Approximately- 150 men are affected. Mr. Philippe Aube, n -Montreal lawyer, has been appointed temporary chief of the provincial police for the entire province, the Premier told newspapermen. Chiefs of the traffic police and liquor commission in till districts of the province have .also been dismissed, Mr. Duplessis added. "The Montreal office of the provincial police was a. hotbed of corruption and scandal," the Premier declared, "and it is our intention to conduct an investigation to punish those who have abused (he confidence which was placed in litem. The reorganisation of the force will assure the Montreal municipal police ni' the autonomy which we promised during the election campaign."
