NICHOL OUTPOINTS DE GANS In a 15-rounds boxing bout at Palmerston North, which at no time roused a fair bouse to excitement, Claude Niebol, Australian heavyweight champion, 12,1, took a points decision trout the American negro, Roy de Gnus, 12.2. With half the fight gone and no tilling blows exchanged, Lbe crowd grew impatient and the remaining rounds were f.ougbt to the accompaniment of sarcastic remarks. In the thirteenth round the referee told the negro to make a fight of it. Most of the fight was spent in tiresome clinches. Niebol made what light there was, but there was no vim. about bis forcefulness. The judges were divided. and the referee bad no hesitation in deciding in Nichol’s favour. A small section booed the decision.
