INCREASED REVENUE AUCKLAND FTC URLS The revenue collected from all sources by the Customs Department at Auckland for the last nine months totals £3,596,742, an increase of £705,374, or just over 25 per cent- over the figures of £2,891,363 for the same period last. year. The total for September is £411,258. an increase of £59,345 over September, 1935. Customs duties alone fflr the nine months, £2.299,536, show an increase of £401.452. or nearly 251 per cent. The September figure, £261.290, is better by £25.632 than that for September last vear. Motor spirit and tyre duties together ; have yielded £564.407, or £163,717 more i for the nine months. The sales tax vo- ; eeipts for September, £76,445, breaks the record established in August, when the I total was £72.922. Last- September’s figure was £57,934. The increase for the nine months is £118,002, or a little over 25 per cent. The excise on beer lias returned £118,410 since the beginning of the year, an increase of £22,213. The collection for September was £16.837, against £10.268 in September last year. WELLINGTON FIGURES Customs revenue collected at Wellington from all sources in September totalled £422,802, an increase of £83,326 over September, 1935. Sales tax, September, totalled £95,100, and established a new record. The net customs total for the nine months of the current year exceeds the figure for the corresponding period of 1935 by £449,162. The figures for September, iv.itli those for the same month of 1935 given in parentheses, were as follows : —Net customs revenue, £2-83,601 (£227,827); motor spirit duty, £62.134 (£47.162); tyre tax, £1073 (£2181); sales tax, £95.100 (£76,186); beer excise, £5751 (£4969).
