The sum of £BO,OOO Was said to bo involved when Osmond Arthur Bridgewater, a city sharebroker, appeared before Mr. E._ C. Lcvvey, B.MI, in ’cotjrt this morning, charged with ■sharediaWkingi Bridgewater, according to the charge, had during the past three years, namely, on November 1, 1935, at baniaru, gone from house to house offering shares in the Australasian Investment Corporation, Limited, a company incorporated in New Zealand, to certain persons, namely, debenture ■holders in the Investment Executive Trust, Limited. Tlio information, .which was a private one,, Was laid under the Companies Act, 1933. It svas agreed to remand Bridgoavater till October 15. Substantial bail was asked for by Mr. Young, counsel for the prosecution. “The evidence will be that no less than <£S&JOQJi,is involved,” he said. “Other pfoseeitfitins depend on the result of ’this Fearing. ’ ’ “That .is-sheer exaggeration,” coin-- ; plained Mr. Lee, counsel for the accused; The. magistrate fixed bail at £.500, with:,one. surety of £SOO, and ordered Bridgowater to report daily to the police. ;
