ATTACK ON WOMAN ' INDIAN SENT TO GAOL ADMISSIONS ALLEGED (Per Press Association.) . WANGANUI, this day. During the hearing of a civil claim before Mr. J. H. Salmon, S.M., between Indians employed in the Wanganui district there were allegations of a “frame up” ugaipst tire plaintiff whereby he .was sentenced to Iftvinonths imprisonment in August of 1935 for attempted rape on the defendant s wife. •The plaintiff, Bachint Singh, claimed £ll2 8s 4d from Nand Singh, alleged to be money lent, and advances with which to buy articles for the defendant and Ins wife. Various witnesses testified to attending a meetipg At Kauang&roa, at which the defendant stated,, that he had sent the plaintiff to gaol for 18 months and got his money and clothing as well. pne witness stated'that the defendant s wife admitted to him that what she had said about the plaintiff was untrue, and she was very sorry.
