MAN LOST AT SEA
BUTCHER DISAPPEARS FAILURE OF SEARCH (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON,, last night. On her voyage from Auckland to Wellington the New Zealand Shipping Company ’k vessel Rotorua lost her butcher overboard. At S a.m. - to-day, when the vessel was off Cnstlepoint, the, butcher, G. Co.okj was ' reported . missing. A thorough search of the vessel failed to reveal him and at S a.m. the master, Captain C. B. Lamb, put the Rotorua about and, for two hours, steamed slowly back- over his course in search of Mr. Cook. At 10.20 a.m., when the search had proved unsuccessful, the Rotorua was once more put on her course for Wellington, and arrived shortly after 6 p.m. There was only a moderate sea running with a fresh north-westerly breeze when 'Mr. Cook was reported missing. It is stated that he had been somewhat strange in manner for some days past.
