OBITUARY
MRS. ANNIE WALTERS
The death occurred at the Cook Hos pital this morning of an old and highlyrespected resident of Gisbornc in the person of Mrs. Annie Walters, wife of Mr. William John Walters, and the mother of a large adult family, most of whom, are resident in this district. The late Mrs. Walters was born at Wattle Farm, Hamilton, 64 years ago, and was educated at the Auckland Convent. In 1888 she came lo Gisborne, and two years later she was married here, spending her remaining years iu the Poverty Pay district. She had 11 sons and daughters, one of whom, a daughter, died in infancy. Iter husband's connection with t hePoverty Pay Rowing Club and the Gisborne Volunteer Fire Brigade furnished tho late Mrs. Walters with many social contacts, and she contributed greatly to (he success of bails and other functions promoted by these long-established organisations. Her warm heart and equable temperament made her highly popular, and her energy furnished an example to others. In recent years she bad been less prominent in social activities, but she had retained her wide circle of friendships, and her passing will be noted with deep regret. The late Mrs. Walters had been in ill-health for some months, and her death was not unexpected. 1 The deceased is survived by her husband and 10 sous and daughters, the sons being Messrs. John Bernard Walters, Milton Pees Walters, Lester William Walters. Ernest Vivian Walters, Keith Desmond Walters. Thomas Jlacketl Wallers, and 'Terence Anthony Wallers. Mr. Milton Walters being resident al Silverdale, and the others in Poverty Bay: the daughters are Mrs. L. Robinson. Gisborne. Mrs. G. Croon, Waipaoa, and Mrs. K. M. Davis, Gisborne. Mr. W. riackett, Gisborne, and Mr. .1. Hacked. Hastings, are brothers oT (he deceased, and Mrs. A. Russell, Gisborne, is a sister. A requiem mass will be held at St. Mary's Church at 6.30 a.m. to-morrow, j nnd the funeral will leave the church at ,2 p.m. for Taruhcru cemetery.
