Whangarei, it is said, offers one of the best markets in New Zealand for the sale of various preparations for killing ants. Few houses in the town are completely free from the pesfc. A collision between a motor van and a car on the Kaiparn, Flats road resulted in Mr. T. W. Collins, of Warkworth, the driver of the van, suffering chest and leg injuries, and Mr. Kay Hoysted, who was seated beside Mr. Collins, receiving facial abrasions. It is apparently the intention of the Government to commence its housing scneme in Auckland by erecting h great nivmjber of workers' homes on a portion of the State-owned land at Orakei. Surveyors have started work on the area hilhvards of the native village, and to the east of Coates avenue, which runs along the ridge of the portion of the Orakei model suburb already placed on the market.
