COMPLAINTS IN NORTH USE IN BKEAD-AIAKINC; The Whnngarei sub-provincial executive of the Acs, /calami Fanners' l.tiion wrote to the Minister of Industries and Commerce, the Hon. D. ft. .Sullivan, recently, asking if Canadian flour is at present being used by New Zealand Hour millers to mix with locally-produced Hour. Tne Minister replied that this was not tile ease. Continuing, the Minister slated: "It is true, however, that the Auckland millers are using a huge proportion of Australian wheal in tucir grist. Owing to there being a large proportion of New /calami sprouted wheal this year, arrangements were made to import a quantity of Australian wheat to relieve the supply position, and to enable the Auckland nulls to mill u larger proportion ot sprouted wheal than would have been clone ii they were not able to grist, it. with the Australian importations." When the letter was considered at the quarterly meeting of the executive this week. Mrs. L. Williams said the. flour was almost impossible for use in the making of home-made bread. "Mv own experience., and that .of many" good cooks throughout the district confirms the impossibility of obtaining satisfactory results from'the flour. We have tried all methods, lull cannot gel good results. The flour is more satisfactorv in making small goods." said Mrs. Williams.

A suggestion that flour from other districts was not similarly affected was denied by Mr. A. Wiblin, who confirmed the statements made by Mrs. 'Williams that-"the quality of the flour was very unsatisfactory, especially for breadmaking. Tliis was Ihe source of great inconvenience to farmers in back areas who had to rely on home-made bread, safd Mr, Wiblin.
