NUHAKA CO-OP. DAIRY CO.

ANNUAL MEETING FUTURE OF FACTORY (Herald Correspondent.) The annual meeting of the Nuhaka. Co-operative Dairy Cmpaiiy was held at the company's office in Nuhaka on Tuesday, the attendance being fair. The chairman of directors, Mr. G. B. Steele, occupied the chair. The annual report and balance-sheet were adopted. The chairman thanked the directors for their co-operation during the past year, and congratulated the factory manager, Mr. T. Conncry, and staff lor the increase in grade. Air. Steele said he would not again apologise for the bal-ance-sheet.. The only justification for keeping Ihe factory open was the increased pay-out due to the guaranteed price. Improvements to the factory had been forced upon the directors. Unless the output, was increased to about 300 tons it. would be advisable to close the factory. Owing lo the small supply and heavy overhead expenses the company were*faced with coming out below butter prices, whereas, the cheese factory should pay out more. Promises of supply were useless as the company had been "slipped up" too many times. It was an uneconomical factory as far as the size of the output was concerned. Mi'. Steele stated that there were suppliers who had definitely decided that the present season would be their last as suppliers to the Nuhaka cheese, factory. -\h\ Steele added that the building of a new factory would have to be considered.

A long discussion look place in respect to keeping the factory open, and the matter was left in the hands of the newly-elected directors, .Mesa's. Q. B. Steele. J. Small, K. Whaangn, H. Pomona, and R. Mclntyrc. The sum of £1 Is was donated to the Nnhaka A. and P. .Society, allocated to the Calf Club. The directors' fees and chairman's honorarium also were dealt with.

The secretary. Mr. R. MeTr.tyre, jun., was requested to seek information regarding a zoning area. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks to the chair.

At a subsequent meeting of directors, Mr. (.!. B. Steele was again elected chairman of directors, this being his eighth term of office.
