POVERTY BAY CLUB SUBSCRIPTIONS RAISED EARLY START TO HE MADE Subscriptions were raised tit the annual meeting last evening of the Poverty Bay Rowing Club, and n was decided to commence the season's activities next week-end. Mr. A. Kirk was iiT the chair, and there was a fail attendance ,of members'. After the financial statement had been submitted by the secretary, Mr It. It was decided to takeditries for' the First Trial Fours and select the crews during the week end. Mr. J. O'Neill raised a question re yarding the eight-oar, and asked if the representative crew had to be drawn from the one shed, as he thought that Ihe two should co-operate and send a combined crew to the championship* this season. The chairman said that thill- was an Fast, Coast Association, matter and when Mr. O'Neill also mentioned the training of the eight oar crew, saying that an earlier start should be made, the chairman said that this could be put forward as a suggestion to the association.

On the subject of training, '.Mr. S. Ledger asked if the senior crew could not be selected earlier this season so that it could put in more combined training. The chairman agreed that that was the right course to take, but said that there was a difficulty in that often some of the members secured part-time work in the country and as a result the crews were broken up. Mitchell asked if something could be done during the coming sea son to create more interest in the sport for novice men during the training 01 representative crews.
