FEW RAILWAY MISHAPS

Norwood, the president of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce, during a discussion concerning a reply by Mr. G. H. Mackley, the general manager of railways, to the chamber's statements on steel carriages. Mr. Norwood said that notwithstanding the mountainous nature of New Zealand and the narrow gauge, accidents were relatively low, this showing that the engineering guidance had been of n pretty high quality.
