FINANCIAL STATEMENTS WAGES PAID AND PROFITS NECESSITY FOR INQUIRY (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. An announcement that the committee expected financial statements from operators, as if desired full information concerning the capital involved in the undertakings, the number of men employed, the rate of wages paid, and profit aiiil loss for the year, was made by the chairman, Mr. I'. M. Butler, when the taxi-cab and carrying business inquiry was resumed to-dny. If (lie statements were not forthcoming voluntarily, he said, the committee would take steps to have them produced compulsorily. It was hoped, however, that those giving evidence would co-operate with the committee by giving all information possible.

A careful examination of the finarr cial aspect of the position was important, and it might be necessary to appoint an accountant to assist the com mi t tee.

After further evidence had been heard, the inquiry was adjourned in order to make arrangements with the Government for a third'member to assist in the inquiry.
