MOTOR TRAFFIC SPEEDS

BOROUGH BOUNDARY SIGNS ERECTION AUTHORISED Boundary signs regarding speed limits for motor traffic will be erected on the outskirts of the Gisbor.no bor.ough. This was agreed to at last night's meeting of the Borough Council, when the town clerk, Mr. W. M. Jenkins, reported as follows: —

"In a communication received from he Commissioner of Transport menioning the increased speed now pernitted heavy motor vehicles, he rejorts the expressed wish of the Miri-

jistcr of Transport that borough councils would proceed with the erection of boundary notice signs on all streets leading into the borough. This will negative any suggestion on the part ,of drivers that they were unaware that the 30-mile per hour speed restriction applied to the locality in which they were apprehended. It would be advisable to. proceed with the erection of these signs as reported on by the traffic inspector seven months ago." It was pointed out that the present borough speed limit was 25 miles an hour, and the new regulations did not override this. It was agreed, therefore, that the notive boards should notify a speed limit of 2o miles an hour.
