BOY’S LOSS OF FINGERS

VICTIM OF EXPLOSION

(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day

The explosion of a detonator in a roadside bonfire is given as the reason for the injuries suffered by the boy P. Truelove, of Scatoun road, aged 11 years, two of whose fingers were blown off. It previously was stated that the lad had thrown a live cartridge on the fire, but it now is ascertained that he had no knowledge of any dangerous explosive. Detonators had been placed there by other boys, who had taken them from an empty house nearby. The police found other detonators near the fire.
