The Gisborne welterweight professional boxer, Watty Roberlson, will light Km Jacobs, Wellington, in (Jpotiki tomorrow evening in the main coldest ot a tournament promoted by the- (Ipotiki Boxing Association. Robertson .recently drew with N. Mudgway in Hamilton, and has two or three matches in prospect for the next few weeks. Jacobs is a wellperformed welterweight, lacking a little of Robertson’s experience, but possessing a. lot of ambition, and a determination to succeed in the professional ring.

Amateurs from Gisborne will be engaged in several of the preliminary tigliis. Alex Waugh will fare 11. Cull, (ipotiki, in a special four-round match, Waugh having taken K. Allen’s place in the ring owing to Allen being unavailable. X. Davy is to meet L. Roderick, who last month fought in Gisborne ; ami E. O’Donoghue is matched with M. Burke, Bay of Plenty. An effort is being made- to provide an opponent Irom Gisborne for S. Ilollis, a hard-hitting lightweight from the Bay of Plenty. The sport of boxing in this district is hound to take a- new lease of life from tin- forthcoming visit of Bill Pluto, Sydney, who is to fight tinder the auspices of the Gisborne Boxing Association. Pluto has been guaranteed three fights by the Gisborne association, and there will be a keen demand for the services of amateurs in training.
