SYDNEY WOOL SALES MARKET REMAINS FIRM SYDNEY, Sept. 21. The wool, sales were resumed today. The market was Jinn at closing rates of the .last .Sydney series, but all lines carrying burr and dust were 5 per cent lower. Yorkshire and Germany wore the chief buyers, supported by .France, America and local users. Japanese representatives were present, but did not. operate. Greasy merino made to ,193 d. The offerings totalled. .10.722 bales, of which 8571 bales were sold, and also 818 bales privately. SMITHFIELD MARKETS MEAT BOARD’S REVIEW The New Zealand Meal. Board reviews the Smitliliehl markets as under : “Lamb.--The market remains lirm, with prices again slightly higher. The output, is veiy good for the. t ime of year. "Mutton.—The market for wethers' :is firm, with prices for lightweights heifer. For ewes, the demand and prices are. steady. “Beef.—Frozen beef is quiet with prices unchanged. The chilled beef trade is slow owing to heavier supplies. "Bigs.—For porker the demand is increasing and prices firm. Baconers are quiet, but firm owing to short spot, stocks." Sdwt. of retorted gold. The Worksop Extended Gold Dredging Company, Limited, give the .following official return for tlie week ending September 17: —Yield, .2(1 oz.; hours dredged, 120; yardage treated, 9(500. 'Fhe Maori Gully return was 7oz. lOdwt. for 128 hours. Tlie Argo dredge return was 05oz. for 92 hours, in which 9000 yards were dealt with. The Mossy Greek return was (itioz. lOdwt. from 89.17 yards in 102 hours. The Addison’s Flat return for the fortnight ended September .17 was 220 z ndwt. for 20 shifts.
