GIRLS’ CLUB DANCE (Herald Correspondent.) On Friday evening a most enjoyable social organised by members of the Girls Club was held in the Waercnga-a-hika School. . A programme of modern and old-time dancing was capably supervised by Air. E. Ingram, while the music was contributed b v Mrs. D. Smith and Air. G. Grayson. Two Monte Carlo waltzes, were popular, the winners being Aliss F. Holter partnered by Air. J. Nickerson, and Air. and Mrs. .L Brown. The distribution of paper hats and balloons caused much merriment.
Non-dancers played euclne, the games being controlled by Messrs. G. Wilson and D. Moore. Several players tied for each prize and played off, the winners being:—Ladies.-—Airs. I'. Linklater, 1; Mrs. lb Alullan, 2. Gentlemen. —Afr. AY. Hankie, 1 ; Air. T. Ingram, 2. During an interval the Her. AY. S. C. Stephens, on behalf of the club, thanked all for their patronage, and especially .Mrs. D. Smith and Mr. G. Grayson for supplving the music. Two popular rcsi.lculs. Air. and Mrs. G. .bines, received an ovation as they had become grandparents. Several items were contributed by Ah’. J. Thode.v and his pupils, Alisses Linklater and I>. Davis, and A 1 aster L. Ingram. Air. Thode.v ably demonstrated tap dancing and did the Irish Jig. Iwo recitations were given by Aliss E. Grant, “The Greenstone Tiki” and ‘‘The AA’ost
Wind.” A dainty supper was served in. formally by members of the club. M Those present included Mesdames G,, Jones. J. Brown. O. Wilson, D. Moore,; W. Torrie, D. Smith, T. Ingram, E. Candy, W. Pardoe, G. Grayson, F. McKenzie, 11. Boyd, B. Mullan, Lee, TJ§ Linklater, It. Grant, A. Drake (Te Kalna), A. Lister, and E.; Morris; Misses Godfrey, K. Boyd, A|« Torrie, E- McKenzie,' R. Ingram, &e| Davis. I. Ingram, J. Lougher, J. Pai'doe, P. Lister, F. Ilolter. C. Valentine, W. V'ohnsiedler, Grant (2), and E. Warrington. Mr. and Mrs. E. Cook, having returned from a visit to Auckland, have taken up residence at Hexton.—Mr. and •Mrs. E. While have returned from a motor tour of Auckland and the north and are now residents of Waorenga-a-y liika.—Mr. J. Wickens. who has been spending a holiday in Gisborne, returns to Auckland to-morrow.
