KEAS FOR BERLIN ZOO
BIRDS FROM SOUTH ISLAND
A letter has been received by the Dunedin office of the New Zealand Shipping Company from Mr. Bruno Beyer, of Berlin, who was one of those responsible for a proposal that led to the dispatch of keas from Hollyford Valley for the Berlin Zoo.
Mr. Beyer is going to London to take charge of the keas, after which he will leave for New Zealand on October 2. He expresses keen appreciation of the details forwarded concerning the birds, and also of the efforts of the men at tire Homer Saddle camp in capturing them anil forwarding them to Dunedin. His gratitude to the men has taken a practical form in the shape of a gift- of £5 towards the purchase of a piano for the camp.
