TROOPS FOR PALESTINE ADDRESS BY DUKE UTMOST TACT NEEDED (British Official Wireless.) Peed 2 p.m. RUGBY, Sept. IS. Tho Duke of York, us colonel of the Scots Guards, visited Aldcrshot and made a farewell inspection of the second battalion, which will leave Aldorshol for Palestine on Sunday. In an address, the Duke said: "You are going to Palestine under more or less active service conditions. The situation there is very delicate, and your duty will he to maintain law and order —a task that carries with it very heavy responsibilities and calls for the utmost tact. As your .colonel, I expect you, bv your behaviour, bearing and appearance, both on and off parade, and particularly in your association with the civilian population, io uphold the good name of His Majesty's Foot Guards."

The (Secretary of State for the Colonies, Mr. W. G. Ormsby-Gore, in a speech at Stafford, said that the Government did not subtract anything from, or add anything to, its recent statement of policy on Palestine.

The Government made it perfectly clear that it. could not be diverted from its policy by the shooting of British soldiers, or by acts of terrorism and violence. To secure peace was the Government's sincere hope. That was what they were working for in Spain.

Never had Britain been in greater need of young men to defend her and her liberties against an overspill of ideas from the Continent of'Europe.
