CUMBERSOME AWARDS
CRITICISM IN COURT ILL-CONCEIVED BASIS ' NEED FOR REVISION (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. A statement that many of the existing industrial awards were extremely cumbersome and in groat need of reeasting was made in 'the Arbitration Court this morning. An Auckland solicitor, Mr. Lisle Alderton, said that in many instances, awards were being cluttered up Ivy annual additions 10 what frequently was an ill-conceived structure in the original form. Many clauses were obsolete, but were still retained, and some extraordinary clauses inserted were childish in their objects and were sources, oi irritation.
Ho said that lie realised the difficulty of recasting awards, hut suggested that The drafting of Ihe form ot tae awards should be a matter lor an expert draftsman attached to tiie court.
Mr. Justice Page agreed, remarking that, he would try to draft a standard form of award.
