NUGGET FOUND
OVER TWELVE OUNCES SULKILY MINER'S FIND : A nugget weighing Woz. fidjvt. was discovered in the Wa'kunmnna district by ..Mr. W. (L Watson, one of tho miners working there under the subsidised .scheme. Its value is about *3IOO. ’.Mr. Watson also discovered a few smaller pitVcos, including one nugget weighing J4dwt. - ; The Wakaimu'ina Valley ami Its offshoots.have been prospected and mined, extensively for many years, particularly since the subsidised scheme came into operation. At present there a relict ween JO and GO men working in the district.
i Air. Watson’s find is the largest that has been found under the scheme iii .Marlborough, and as it. was re•covered on virgin 'ground hopes; are Field that it will lead- to further success. The nugget was obtained through ground sluicing operations.
j About a year ago a 9oz. nugget: was found at, .\iahakipawu 'by-an assisted prospector, Air. E. Button, and some time previously a 4-ioz. nugget was discovered in Wakamarinti by a subsidy man. There have also been one of two nuggets of about 4oz. found by men working under the scheme at Qnamalntu in recent; years.
