LEAGUE OF MOTHERS (Heralit Corresponilent.) On Tuesday evening a large number of members and friends ot the llauiti branch of the League ot .Mothers assembled at Knakapanga meeting house to celebrate the branch’s sixth birthday.

The proceedings opened with a hymn and prayers, followed by speeches and songs of welcome by various members. A number of young visitors were present and several were heard in some pleasing items. Competitions were indulged in, and the winners were presented with suitable prizes. A delicious supper was served, the place of honour on the tastefully decorated supper table being taken by a handsome birthday cake. The six candles were lighted with all due eeremony and to the oldest and youngest members fell the honour of blowing them out. Shortly after supper a very enjoyable evening drew to a close.

The annual meeting of the Tolaga Bay League of Mothers was held recently at the home of Mrs. A. Thatcher, llauiti. The annual report was read by the president. and adopted, and officers were elected for the ensuing year. At the close of the meeting a dainty supper was served 1 1 v tin* hostess.

(11l a, recent afternoon the home ot Mrs. K. Beeves was the scene of a very happy gathering of young folk, with a sprinkling of elders, the occasion being tiie annual box-opening in aid of Dr. Barnardo’s Homes, which resulted in a verv .'alisfaetury amount being forwarded. Gaines and competitions: whiled away the fleeting hours and the serving of a delightful afternoon tea all too soon brought to the close a very happy afternoon.
