RIFLES FOR PALESTINE I POLICE RAID VILLAGES ARMED BANDS CAPTURED (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. Sept. 16. 3 p.m.) BEIRUT, Sept. 15. Lebanese gendarmes surrounded, several villages in the Elion I’ district, .which w.-vc believed to harbour armed hands. _ While transferring several prisoners, the gendarmes were tired on from a hill. Further arrests followed and 12 rifles and a. quantity of ammunition were confiscated. 11 is believed the arms were being smuggled to I’alesiine.
