MEETING AND SOCIAL The. monthly meeting of the Kopnawhara Women's Institute was held in tho Y.M.C.A. on September 3, Mrs. Swan-noil presiding over a fair attendance of members.

The meeting opened with the singing of the institute ode, after which business was discussed and arrangements made to hold a social on September 11. The competition, original article made from sugar bag. was won by Mrs. Davis. A second competition, men’s mended underpants, was won by Mrs. Monteith.

A dainty afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mrs. Pemberton and Mrs. Davis, and a happy afternoon closed with the. singing of the National Anthem.

Oil September 11 a. social was held in the Y.M.C.A. at Kopuawhara in aid of the Kopuawhara Women’s Institute. The hall was decorated with streamers in the institute colours. A big crowd attended and keenly entered into the spirit of the evening. Several novelty dances wore an attraction. Splendid music was provided by Mr. Ackland', assisted, by Mr. Corkin, and Mr. Blair, ventriloquist, gave a clever item. The institute members provided a good supper, which was much appreciated. Dancing was continued until 1 a.m., when a jolly evening was brought to a. close.
