W. l/.od, Maugapapa, stated that names' of nv# applicants were submitted to the Maugapapa committee recent lv. and the committee did not agree with the person the hoard had chosen, asking that the next on the list should he offered the position. The board had ignored' the committee, and Mr. l/.od asked what the rights ol a school committee were in such matters, and ii a, committee had no rights why did the board submit the names ol applicants to the committee.

Mr. Maddisoo replied that flic board was gt' t rin d by the Act. which ruled that, 'the highest graded applicant must secure the position, unless there were extraneous circumstances which warranted a reverse decision, in which case the highest graded applicant, bad the right, of appeal.
