BUDA’S PEST
SWARM OF MOSQUITOES
BUDAPEST, July 4. Swarms of mosquitoes, which arc doing their best to destroy the pence of individuals during the heat wave, achieved their greatest triumph last night. Their arrival led to all the fire brigades of Budapest being turned out.
A policeman on duty at tho entrance to Parliament Buildings sqw rising against the moonlit sky what was apparently a column of smoke. He hastily gave the alarm prescribed for any threat of fire to tho building. Within a few minutes the engines reached flic scene. They were met by an embarrassed policeman, who had to confess that wluit he had supposed to bo smoke was a dense swarm of mosquitoes. The firemen withdrew under the high-pitched song of triumph of the mosquitoes. On going off duty the unhappy policeman found that he had been badly bitten.
