TOATOA BEAT MOTU BOTH TEAMS SHORT (Herald Correspond«nt.) The last football match of the season in the hill country was played on Saturday, when a Motu team visited Toatoa to play n return annual friendly game. Neither club fielded a full team, only 13 players being available for each sine. Motu won the loss and shortly after the commencement of play, •'. Starky (Toatoa) secured the ball, and, making a good run, .crossed the line, the extra points being added by Makomako. '.Motu made determined efforts to equalise and R. Beets was successful in scoring a try, the kick failing.Toatoa live, Motu three. Hack and forward play was the order for a spell and then Yardle.y (Toatoa) secured and added another three points. On resuming after half-time, Motu kept Toatoa on the defensive. _ \V. Bain, Motu's winger, received a slight injury, which necessitated his removal from' the field, and a Toatoa emergency filled the gap. From a forward rush' Moses added throe points for Toatoa. Motu continued to press hard, but -Clark cleared with a good kick and, following up fust, scored near the corner. Starky's kick failed and time was called with the final score Toatoa 14, Motu three. Mr. W. Recce, Opotiki, ably controlled the giime. The teams were:—-Toatoa. —B. Mortensen, captain, .1. Starky, L. Clark, .1. Moses, M. Makomako, J. Hall, M. Munro, 11. Sundell, T. StOtt, W. Burborough. The visitors were entertained at tea and later at a delightful dance in the ruihlic hall, Mrs. Rcnnett>' orchestra from Opotiki being in attendance.
