GISBORNE & E.C. CENTRE 15TH ANNUAL MEETING MR. 8. McKENZIE PRESIDENT -Ai (he annual meeting of (he Gisborne and Last Coast Bowling Centre held in the. Gisborne Bowling Club's pavilion last evening the following delegate* were present: Messrs. B. L. Power, V. VV. Smith and W. Jackson. Kahtitia; Messrs. P. William-, G. Henderson and J. G. McGregor.. The gathering was presided over by the president. Mr. Myles Doyle, who ill opening the meeting extended a welcome to all the delegates. He expressed pleasure at seeing so many of last, year's representatives back on' the contre, which showed • thai they had done their duty by their clubs." Mr. Doyle specially welcomed the newcomers on the centre", Messrs-. Williams. I', W. •Smith. Jackson and Popple. Reviewing the annual report, the chairman stated that it was evident that the membership of the clubs affiliated to the centre was in a satisfactory position. He referred to the success of the various trophy tournaments- that had been organised by the centre in the course of the year. Gisborne had heen put on the map by the. success' of a Gisborne team, comprising Messrs. J. S. Waite. W. Meal, YV. Riddell and P. Williams (s). in winning the Rotorua open tournament. With regard to the financial position, the, treasurer, Mr. J. S. Waite, stated that, the accounts disclosed the satisfactory working of the various tournaments. The income, and expenditure were, much on the same lines as in previous years, there having been a surplus of income of ClO. The centre had accumulated funds amounting to £219, but in view of the. probable visit of players from outside clubs, he considered that one or other of the sources of revenue should be reviewe'd so that the inroads on the money in hand should not bo too great.

On the motion of the chairman, seconded by Mr. G-. Henderson, the report and balance sheet wore adopted. Tlie elec) ion of officers for (ho ensuing year resulted as follows: President, Mr. S. McKenzie; vice-president, Mr. H. A. Mace : lion, secretary, Mr. P. 0. Robertson; hon. treasure!'. Mr. J. S. Waite; hon. auditor. Mr. W. S. Coleman. Before vacating the chair in favour of the newly-elected president. Mr. Doyle thanked all the delegates for their assist. anco during the past 12 months. The period had been one of the happiest that the speaker had had in any official position. He desired to thank Mr. McKenzie for taking the chair at several executive meetings at which he had not been able to attend. Mr. Doyle was of the opinion that much of the success of the- centre's activities was duo to the harmonious working of the executive, specially with the services of Messrs. Waite and Robertson as treasurer and secretary respectively. RETIRING DELEGATES

The thanks of the centre were due also to the retiring delegates, Messrs. I!. Jenkins, R, Morse, H. Miller and L. Bright. 'I lie. speaker congratulated Ml'. McKenzie on being appointed to the office, and he hoped that the time would be as happy a one for Mr. McKenzie as it had been for himself.

On faking the chair, the new president thanked Mr. Doyle for his remarks and stated (hat he would endeavour to do his best J'or "the centre. With the inaugural ion of the 40-hour week, there should be an increased number of bowlers on the greens, and accordingly additional in. the sport, lie hoped that all clubs would enjoy a successful season.

The question of increasing the subscriptions was. raised by the secretary, who pointed out that only £9 was received from that source. He suggested thai, the rate should be increased to £1 Is for 25 members and C2 2s for 50 members.
