FAST OPEN GAME
SOUTHLAND BEAT 'CANTERBURY (Fer Press Association.) INVERCARGILL, last night. A Southland Rugby representative team defeated Canterbury to-day by 32 points to 14, in a game in which there was plenty of fast and open play. The Southland' forwards played with great dash, and in the last quarter ol the game particularly, look charge and ran the visitors off their legs. Tries for Southland were scored by Parker (5), Milne (2), Ward, George and Purdue. Wesney converted two, and Mattingly two. For Canterbury, ilarl scored two tries, Brooks one, and Fright, one, ami Fright converted one. The weather was line, but the ground was slightly heavy.
