A proclamation will -be issued next week hringing into operation the A<• i passed by iho Commonwealth I'.-uiia-nu.'iii in 103.'! providing I'oi' llie acceptance by the Commonwealth of.' an area of 3,000,000 square miles in the Antarctic, to be known in future as the Australian Antarctic Territory. 'Phis territory consists of till islands and territories, except the French dependency or Adelie Land, situated south of tin 1 sixtieth degree of south latitude ami between the hundred and sixteith degree and l.'orty-iifrh degree of east longitude.
