The author tells the story of the adventurous career of Wassniuss, and those who appreciate endurance, initi alive, enterprise, and the skill to
carry out the most difficult plans when once decided upon, will ungrudgingly admire the skill of this remarkable German, It is true that he failed, and that those whom -he tried in t < turned against him in ihe end. but this does not make his life story less vital, and few will dispute Mr. Sykos' judgment that Wassniuss is entitled to be called "The German Law rence."
