PART OF AFRICA’S COAST TO MEET GERMAN DEMANDS PRETORIA, Aug. 13. The Johannesburg Star, commenting on the statement of the South African Minister of Defence, Mr. O. Pi row, that in no circumstances can South Africa and Britain envisage the return of Tanganyika or South-West Africa to Germany, says: — “There is little doubt that the, Government is opposed to returning Tanganyika or South-AVest Africa to Germany. We have reason, however, to believe that the Government favours Germany receiving territory in Africa as compensation for her lost colonies, and is inclined to support the idea, of the formation of a colonial pool for the purpose of settling the matter. Indications point to the ceding of port ion of the west const of Africa lo Germany in the event of the Powers agreeing as to the justice of her claims.”
