WORKERS IN BREWERIES

PAY AND CONDITIONS WEEK OF FORTY HOURS (Per Press Association.) PALMERSTON N., this day. Complete agreement for hours, wages and working conditions in breweries in the Wanganui, Hawke’s Bay, and Manawatu districts was reached at a Conciliation Council meeting yesterday. Wages agreed on were: Coop'ors, £5 3s weekly; malthouse labourers, £4 17» 6d weekly ; brewery labourers, £4 55 weekly, with ‘ss extra for night cellarmen; bottling house labourers, £4 lib oil weekly; casual workers, 2s ml an hour. A working week of 40 hours was provided for, with the right to work on Saturdays. Pay for holidays and overlime was arranged in accordance with the Factories’ Act. The award is to continue to October 31, 1937.
